About Lou + Esi…

Lou + Esi was launched in May 2011, to serve as an outlet and portal to share all my homemade creations and to gather inspiration from those around me. The Lou + Esi blog covers all my favorite things including cooking, baking, sewing, designing, and drawing. Everything I make or bake is accomplished in my 400 square foot studio apartment and my 20 square foot kitchen. So never say it can’t be done for a lack of space.

About Me…

I grew up in Queens and took the normal route expected of me by my parents. I went to a good college and got a “well respected” job in finance. Over the years, I’ve developed a plethora of hobbies and have always harbored the desire to branch out and pursue my interests in art and design.

After five years and countless long nights at a job I did not like, I finally found the courage to quit my job in finance and try something new. This blog is a culmination of all the things I love from design and typography, to baking, sewing, sketching, cooking, and eating. Yes, eating. I’m a self taught amateur artist and baker and hopefully you will find my creations beautiful, appetizing, and inspiring.

My ideal weekend consists of brunch with good friends, shopping the local flea market for new ideas and trinkets, trying out new restaurants and new foods, and ending with a quiet dinner and a movie at home. Luckily, I live in NYC, and there is no shortage of shopping or restaurants to check out every weekend. Check out the Brooklyn Flea and the Hells Kitchen Flea if you are in the area!

I hate cilantro, pickles, and celery. When I’m not slaving away in the kitchen or working in my “studio” (aka living room), I can be seen traveling around the world in pursuit of new eats. Or, I’m just having a lazy day and am sitting on the couch watching Modern Family.
